Educational Background
I graduated from SUNY Cortland in May 2024 with a degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education. Since then, I’ve begun a master’s program at Cortland in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and am on track to earn my ENL certification and degree by May 2026. I’ve been working as a permanent substitute in the Brentwood School District, where I’ve gained valuable experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, needs, and abilities. Most recently, I had the opportunity to serve as an ENL leave replacement, where I worked closely with 4th and 5th grade students. Throughout this experience, I used a variety of scaffolds and strategies to help students engage with ENL content in meaningful, accessible ways that supported both their language development and academic growth.

About Me
The educator that I am is a reflection of my upbringing. My parents both worked in an elementary school setting, as teachers and administrators. From a young age, I engaged in learning without even realizing it. At the dinner table I heard about the latest current events, news, and happenings. At my home everything was a conversation. My sister and I, despite our age were asked challenging questions about our surroundings, and were always part of discussions. Because of this, I learned to self-reflect, inquire, critically think, and chase my own interests from a young age. I feel that this has impacted my beliefs about teaching tremendously.
I want to encourage my students to be open-minded, insightful, and to learn through conversation and inquiry.
I carry these values with me into my adulthood, and continue to strive to be a life-long learner and soak up any information available to me.
